What is the LOA?
The Liverpool Organists' Association is part of the National Incorporated Association of Organists (IAO), which acts as a focal point for organists of all interests and abilities.

Who forms the membership?
Anyone with an interest in the organ and/or its repertoire, players and non-players alike, plus any whose primary interest lies in choral work.

What does the LOA do?
Activities are normally arranged on a monthly basis, and include visits to organs of special interest, occasional guest speakers, master-classes and recitals.  Regular events include an annual dinner and a trip to instruments further afield.  There is also an emphasis on the social aspect, and visitors and new members are always welcome.  Refreshments are usually provided.

All playing abilities are represented, from amateur to professional.  But membership is also open to non-players.

What can the LOA do for me?
In addition to attendance at our own monthly meetings, membership of the LOA offers an excellent way of keeping in touch with musical events in the Merseyside area through both our regular newsletter and this website.  Members can also take advantage of a reduced subscription to "Organists' Review", the quarterly magazine published by the IAO.  These contain articles and news of general interest, plus reviews of some of the latest publications and recordings.

For practicing church organists, the Association can provide a strong sense of fellowship and mutual support, perhaps more important now than ever before in an area where musical standards in many branches of the church seem to be under pressure.  Membership of the Association covers a broad base, and advice is therefore available on any subject of a church organist's activities.

Advice on courses for organ playing and choir training is also available, and for those who like the occasional weekend away from the organ console, deputies can often be found among the members.
