Welcome to the North and Midlands School of Music.
The North and Midlands School of Music is a rapidly expanding independent network of musicians founded in 1994. The School is based in the UK but also has an increasing number of members abroad. Our purpose is the encouragement of musical study and performance, especially among the young, through a flexible system of examinations and occasional concerts and recitals. Our work is supported by a distinguished list of patrons.
The school offers diplomas in a wide range of musical disciplines. Unlike many institutions, we have no set syllabus and this flexibility enables us to permit candidates to devise their own performance programmes which are approved in advance to ensure the maintenance of high academic standards. After a rigerous examination process, successful candidates receive a detailed examination report, printed diploma certificate, appropriate honorific letters and the right to wear distinctive academic dress.
